Robots and Zombies | FFFW #19
HAPPY FRIDAY
Fridays are awesome. There are some things in this world that are just consistently amazing and Fridays, along with ice cream, extra fries, and puppies, are on that list. And if Fridays aren’t super special for you, that’s okay. The Friday Funeral Fast Wrap was made to help with that predicament. So, here are three gifs of puppies to kick off the best day of the week!
YOU ONLY LIVE… TWICE?
Immortality. Crazy concept right? Like never dying or dying but then being brought to life like a superhero villain is a cool concept. This week CD ran a story about digital memorials that don’t make you come back to life, but certainly make sure you never pass away. Just read the article, you’ll see what I mean.
I think this is all great. It’s cool that technology is progressing as fast as it is in the death-care space, but I must be a harbinger of bad news and bring one somewhat troubling observation I’m finding.
ATTENTION- WE’RE BASICALLY COMBINING ROBOTS AND ZOMBIES!!!!!!!
For me, this combo is scary. I’ve often thought about how I would fight off a robot invasion. That’s easy, you just take down one, rewire it, and program it to fight the other robots. I’ve also often thought about how I’d fight off zombies. I need a baseball bat, a box of nails, and a good hideout spot where I can train up the zombie resistance team. We wait until the time is right and lead the zombies to us and we take them out on our own turf. Easy, right?
BUT, Robo-Zombies bring a slew of new challenges that I don’t think I’m ready to face. Honestly, I think I’ll need a few years to develop a strategy that’s as solid as my others. So in the meantime, I’m just asking that we handle this technology responsibly and stall it until I know how to fight off these bionic zombies.
THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2021
NFDA launched an online version of the profession’s leading cremation certification course this past week. Now, this is awesome because it’s helpful and makes a lot of sense for where we’re at. Unfortunately, it also reminds us that we’re not going to be gathering together for a while. That being said, we can choose to walk with our heads down, OR we can find some positives. So, here’s a list of things to look forward to in 2021!
- Lot’s of new Marvel shows and movies!
- The Friends Reunion Special
- Summer Olympics in Tokyo
- Stranger Things 4 (FINALLY!!!)
- A Lunar Eclipse
- The McPlant burger coming to Mcdonalds (maybe we skip this one)
- The FFFW EVERY FRIDAY
Wow, that’s some fun stuff (especially the last one).
Also, maybe you’ll see this guy!
CRUSH SOCIAL MEDIA AS A FUNERAL HOME (Sponsored)
Funeral homes and any death-care business NEED a good social media presence. This isn’t always as easy as it seems. BUT… if you’re looking for an easy way to get some likes on your page, we have you covered!
Top 3 Things that are social media gold.
1) Babies. People love babies. They’re chunky, they’re small, and they just randomly stare at people a lot. That being said, if you see a picture of a baby on social media and you DON’T engage with it – you actually are a bad person. Like no joke. Well, kind of no joke.
2) Puppies. These are like babies with more fur and less questioning about its parents being “ready yet.” I like puppies, you like puppies, and we all like to LIKE puppies on social media.
3) Puppies and Babies. That’s right; it’s not rocket science. Babies do good, puppies do good, you combine them, and you get something simply amazing! This is like french fries dipped in a Wendy’s Frosty; it’s simply a combo that is almost too good to be true!
Now, these three types of content are fantastic, but if you want a social media strategy that REALLY works for you and your funeral home – you need to do a little more than that. You need DISRUPT Media.
