AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!

Today is a special day for me. I don’t know if you all know this or not, but I’m a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’ve seen all the movies, I listen to several podcasts on the subject, and I proudly wear a denim jacket printed with “MARVEL” across the back shoulder piece. And on this day in 2018 (SPOILER ALERT) The Avengers were dusted away by Thanos in the record-breaking blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War”. This movie was the basis of MANY conversations I had until things were (mostly) made right in the sequel. So, yeah, here’s to you having a super weekend! Let’s GO!

GAME TIME!

How many funerals does the average funeral home have a year? (click on your guess)

  1. 95
  2. 104
  3. 113

SHOULD YOUR FUNERAL HOME BE ON TIKTOK?

TikTok almost isn’t new anymore. It started getting mainstream in 2019 and built a massive user base during the pandemic. So with so many people being on a platform, shouldn’t you be there too?

Well, no… but yes. See, your demographic isn’t actively using TikTok enough to justify a large budget and time commitment to it. There’s also no way to target your content specifically to your community. So for the time being, you shouldn’t stress too much over this platform. That being said, adapting the trends to a funeral home would be amazing to see, and we here at the FFFW VERY MUCH support it. So, though you don’t HAVE to and it might not be SUPER beneficial, you should start making some Toks.

So what does work? Still, the best platform for reaching people 55 and up (your target demographic) is Facebook. And nobody manages funeral homes on Facebook as well as DISRUPT Media. If you’re interested in seeing high ROI through social media then you should see what all DM has to offer!

BRING YOUR OWN URN

This week, CD published an article about people who are designing creative urns. It’s pretty fascinating, so please check it out here. That being said, it made me think about what an urn even is. Like at its core, an urn is just a container, right? Like obviously we mostly want our urns to be durable, attractive, and maybe sealable. But, who’s to say that ashes wouldn’t be perfectly fine in other containers?

Here’s where we get into a weird fascination of mine: 7/11’s “Bring Your Own Cup” day. This is a day where 7/11 allows their customer to bring any reasonable container in to be filled with glorious Slurpee goodness. Though I have never participated in this holiday (and I do believe it was canceled in 2020) it holds a special place in my heart. Why? Because I love anything that inspires pointless fun and unnecessary innovation.

So, I want to show you some of the best containers that have been used for this day, and I will rate them on how well they would be for a Slurpee. AND I will give a separate rating for how good they would be as an urn. Because, why not?

  1. Yard Pool

Source

Slurpee Rating: 5/10

See, I think it would be great for about 10 minutes, but it would melt very fast before you had a chance to drink it all. Then you just have a juicy mess. Also, not the most portable. A+ for creativity, but D- for practicality.

Urn Rating: 1/10

This is one step away from throwing the ashes on top of the ground where this pool is located. Wind will easily blow the ashes out and it would just look weird. 10/10 do NOT recommend.

  1. Leg

Source

Slurpee Rating: 8/10

This is very creative, it holds a respectable amount of Slurpee, and it’s VERY personalized. Only drawback is that slurping on the go may be more difficult.

Urn rating: 8/10

Talk about keeping a loved one’s memories with you. This is genius. Plus, it’s VERY portable!

  1. Clorox

Source

Slurpee Rating: 9/10

It’s provocative, versatile, and practical. The only reason it’s not 10/10 is because you have to be VERY confident that all bleach has been removed.

Urn Rating: 10/10
It would probably be the best talking piece ever.

COMIC OF THE WEEK

If you cremated the Ninja Turtles, would you use your pet crematory, or your human one?

YOU OTTER BE PROUD

Let’s be honest, our profession gets a lot of negative press, so we’ve searched the internet to find stories of funeral things getting respect and doing great things!

  1. Is Austin’s Best Startup a Deathcare Company?
  2. Bartlett Funeral Home Spreads Their Wealth
  3. Couple Works to Preserve Stories at Historic Cemetery

Thank you for reading The Friday Funeral Fast Wrap! Have any ideas or hot-tips? Send those our way!
