Peter A. Urban, JR Installed As OGR Board Member

Austin, Texas – The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR), the world’s leading professional association dedicated to making independent funeral homes exceptional, recently appointed Peter A. Urban, Jr. of the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, Ambler, PA as Chair of OGR’s Young Professionals (YP) Council. As the Council Chair, Mr. Urban was also appointed to a two-year term on OGR’s board of directors and sworn into office on October 27 at the board meeting in Chicago, IL.

“We firmly believe that for OGR to thrive in the future, young professionals need to be involved in leadership and governance of the association. I’m pleased to have Peter join OGR’s Board and provide strategic insight as we look forward to the future of OGR,” stated OGR President Tom Hemmerle. Peter has been actively involved in an OGR round table/invitational since 2002 and OGR’s Young Professionals group since its inception in 2016. He has also been instrumental in planning the annual YP event and serving on other committees and task forces.

Peter A. Urban Jr. is a lifetime resident of Ambler and a third generation licensed funeral director in the Urban family. He has worked at Anton B. Urban Funeral Home since 2001 and is a graduate of Lansdale Catholic High School Class of 2004. During his high school years, Peter began helping his father with odd jobs around the funeral home, ultimately assisting with visitations and funeral services. After high school graduation, he pursued his passion for funeral service by attending a cooperative program between Gannon University in Erie, PA and Northampton County Community College in Bethlehem, PA. He achieved his education goal in 2009 receiving both a bachelor’s degree and an associate’s degree in Mortuary Service.

Peter’s goals are to bring new ideas and technology to the funeral profession that will better serve families at their time of need. He believes that the tradition of funerals is an important ritual in managing one’s grief after the loss of a loved one. Peter and his wife Kelly have one daughter Meredith. They reside in Ambler, PA.
