Mid-America College Of Funeral Service Welcomes Lauren Budrow As President

BROADVIEW, IL, SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 – Pierce Mortuary Colleges is pleased to announce the hiring of Lauren M. Budrow, CFSP, as President of Mid-America College of Funeral Service, Jeffersonville, Indiana.  Budrow has a combined total of fifteen years in funeral service and higher education.  Most recently, she served as Program Director and Instructor for the Funeral Service Education program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology, Kirkland, Washington.

A licensed funeral director and embalmer in the states of Indiana and Washington, Budrow worked for eight years at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Centers in Indianapolis, Indiana before moving to Seattle, Washington to pursue other opportunities.  She holds an Associate of Science degree in Mortuary Science from Vincennes University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Indiana University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Butler University.

“I am honored to join Mid-America College of Funeral Service,” stated Budrow. “The college has a respected heritage of educating funeral professionals since 1895 and I know that with the support of its excellent faculty and staff, we will continue that long into the future.”

Budrow credits her father-in-law, Norman Knuth, as her inspiration to pursue funeral service, pointing to his nearly forty years as a funeral director who demonstrated the values and rewards of funeral service.

“Instilling this same passion and professionalism in students is a top goal of Mid-America College,” she says. “It’s very exhilarating to be joining a staff that is so committed to this.”

Budrow was born and raised in Indiana and is excited to be returning after her years in Seattle.

“We are pleased to have Lauren Budrow take the helm at Mid-America College of Funeral Service,” said Dr. Jill Karn, Chief Operating Officer of Pierce Mortuary Colleges. “Her successful track record in funeral service and higher education positions her extremely well to lead Mid-America College in its mission to prepare future funeral professionals for successful careers.”
