American Funeral Director Seeks “Funeral Director of the Year”

Annual Contest Recognizes Top Professionals; Winner is Featured in Leading Magazine

American Funeral Director recently announced it’s accepting entries for its 2011 Funeral Director of the Year Award to recognize an outstanding individual in the world of funeral service.

“We are looking for nominees who are forward-thinking, love what they do and deliver excellent service,” said Thomas A. Parmalee, editorial director of Kates-Boylston Publications. “There are thousands of great funeral directors, but only nominees who enter this contest can win this prestigious award.”

Batesville Casket Co., which is sponsoring the award, is pleased to be involved in recognizing a top funeral professional. “Funeral directors are the unsung heroes of this industry, working tirelessly to help families through one of life’s most difficult experiences,” said Kim Dennis, president of Batesville. “The path they have chosen is not easy, but there are few things more important than helping a family honor the life of someone they loved – and lost. It is our privilege to have the opportunity to honor them for their work.”

The award is open to all funeral professionals who were employed as a licensed funeral director from June 2010 through June 2011. It is open to all funeral director job titles – from embalmer to funeral home manager. All entries will be treated with the strictest confidence.

At least three finalists will be featured in the November issue of American Funeral Director, and the ultimate winner will be featured on the cover of the December issue. Finalists should be prepared to be interviewed.

You may enter yourself or someone you know. To enter, send the nominee’s bio and job history, a written submission explaining why the person deserves to be recognized and any supporting materials to bjohnson@katesboylston.com or by fax to 732-730-2515.
