We’ve done this 35 times? Wow! We must be getting pretty close then? And I love that. Thank you so much for trusting the FFFW to kick off your weekend and shine a little light EVERY Friday. Y’all the real ones and this otter agrees.

GAME TIME!

What year were the first petrol-powered hearses produced in the United States? (click on your guess)

  1. 1888
  2. 1907
  3. 1919

SHOULD YOUR FUNERAL HOME BE ON TIKTOK?

TikTok almost isn’t new anymore. It started getting mainstream in 2019 and built a massive user base during the pandemic. So with so many people being on a platform, shouldn’t you be there too?

Well, no… but yes. See, your demographic isn’t actively using TikTok enough to justify a large budget and time commitment to it. There’s also no way to target your content specifically to your community. So for the time being, you shouldn’t stress too much over this platform. That being said, adapting the trends to a funeral home would be amazing to see, and we here at the FFFW VERY MUCH support it. So, though you don’t HAVE to and it might not be SUPER beneficial, you should start making some Toks.

So what does work? Still, the best platform for reaching people 55 and up (your target demographic) is Facebook. And nobody manages funeral homes on Facebook as well as DISRUPT Media. If you’re interested in seeing high ROI through social media then you should see what all DM has to offer!

BYE-BYE BLACK TIE

This week Connecting Director’s posted an article about generational changes that may lead to suits retiring as the status quo dress code of the profession. Now, I know a lot of people have a lot of different opinions on this. I can see both sides. Being around Ryan Thogmartin, I’ve seen the value in dressing authentically, but I also like a nice suit. I don’t know, it just seems classy, right? But, fear not. Whether you’re a staunch defender of the traditional jacket and tie, or you’re a fellow that wants to serve in board shorts, I think we can all come together around something that is always right  – my ideas.

See, I’ve thought about amazing uniforms that could be a fantastic alternative to current standards. And let me tell you, y’all will be looking STEEZY if you go with my prompts. So, without further adieu, here’s another list with a long title created for comedic impact.

TOP FASHION STATEMENTS THAT WILL BRING THE DEATH-CARE PROFESSION TO LIFE IF THEY WERE TO BECOME A PROMINENT FEATURE IN THE FUNERAL SPACE. *FOREWARNING, THESE OUTFITS MAY BE DRIPPING SO HARD THAT EVERYONE AROUND YOU WILL NEED AN UMBRELLA.

  1. CANADIAN TUXEDO

You can’t go wrong with this one. It’s a classic that’s been worn by everyone from Springsteen to Timberlake. What’s keeping you from being the next head of this denim crown?
  1. SAVED BY THE BELL

Screech, Morrison, Slater, Kapowski, Spano, Turtle, and YOU. That’s right. This gang had an undeniable sense of fashion. Their bright colors may really lighten up the atmosphere of grief and coping. Give it a shot!
  1. GNARLY DAVIDSON

For some reason a few years ago, CeeLo Green swam in a pool of gold paint, went to an award show and called himself “Gnarly Davidson.” This was a dramatic change in appearance and definitely got people talking. Now, as a business, don’t you want people talking about you? All publicity is good publicity, right? If you agree with said statements above, you gotta go Gnarly.

COMIC OF THE WEEK

May the 4th and all that stuff.

YOU OTTER BE PROUD

Let’s be honest, our profession gets a lot of negative press, so we’ve searched the internet to find stories of funeral things getting respect and doing great things!

  1. Parting Stone ROCKED Their First Year
  2. Local Funeral Homes Taking Charge and Helping FEMA Process
  3. Ohio Cemetery Leveling Up

Thank you for reading The Friday Funeral Fast Wrap! Have any ideas or hot-tips? Send those our way!
