SHOULD YOUR FUNERAL HOME BE ON TIKTOK?

TikTok almost isn’t new anymore. It started getting mainstream in 2019 and built a massive user base during the pandemic. So with so many people being on a platform, shouldn’t you be there too?

Well, no… but yes. See, your demographic isn’t actively using TikTok enough to justify a large budget and time commitment to it. There’s also no way to target your content specifically to your community. So for the time being, you shouldn’t stress too much over this platform. That being said, adapting the trends to a funeral home would be amazing to see, and we here at the FFFW VERY MUCH support it. So, though you don’t HAVE to and it might not be SUPER beneficial, you should start making some Toks.

So what does work? Still, the best platform for reaching people 55 and up (your target demographic) is Facebook. And nobody manages funeral homes on Facebook as well as DISRUPT Media. If you’re interested in seeing high ROI through social media then you should see what all DM has to offer!

HOW TO DEAL WITH (DIFFICULT) CO-WORKERS

This week Connecting Directors published a fantastic article about handling situations with coworkers that you may not get along with the best. It’s so worth the read and has some really helpful tips in it. But… this is the FFFW, and here our advice isn’t always good, but it’s mostly entertaining. So, I’ve compiled a list of “power-moves” that will help you assert your dominance over your fellow colleagues. These may not help bring peace and harmony to your workspace, but it will make them fear you, and that’s something.

  1. Compliment them… kinda. See, this is how it’s done; you take a normal compliment you would give them on an ordinary day but you preface it with a somewhat passive aggressive statement. Example: Tony, regardless of what everyone else thinks – I think you’re a fine embalmer.

Now, not only do they think you have their back, but they also believe the rest of the world is against them.
  2. Call them by a different name, and stand by it. Anyone who has ever watched Parks and Recreation is familiar with a character named Gary, or Gerry, or Larry, or Barry. Say someone’s name is Linda, call her Hannah and just stand by it. If she says, “that’s not my name,” respond by saying, “that sounds like a you problem, Hannah.”

When someone loses the entitlement to something as basic as their given birth name it really does a number on their emotional state.
  3. Tell them they’re loud. Like, not just when they’re talking but like if they’re just sitting there, say, “hey, are you okay? You’re breathing really loud.” When you see them walking down the hall say, “Wow, why so aggressive? I can hear you stomping from the other side of the building.” Eat Lunch? Hit them with the “I’m so sorry, but you’re eating and drinking is just a little too much right now. Can you enjoy lunch a little quieter?” This is sure to traumatize them.

See, when people are told their presence is too much they try to become smaller. However, in this case, your co-worker probably has an average presence, and by making them think it’s extra-large, we decrease them from average to below average. You will walk with pride over them as they cower underneath their fear of you.

So there you go. Those are three not-so-ethical ways to handle that pesky colleague. Please read THIS ARTICLE if you want some real ways to handle those difficult situations.

Let’s be honest, our profession gets a lot of negative press, so we’ve searched the internet to find stories of funeral things getting respect and doing great things!
