IT’S PUMPKIN SEASON, BABY!

Fun fact for you folks- Autumn doesn’t begin until September 22nd. Then, it lasts all the way until the 21st of December. THAT’S WILD. See, Starbucks already has pumpkin spice drinks, everyone’s moms are starting to bust out the nice warm candle scents, and school is back in session. Now, clearly, it is already falling or pretty dang close to it. So, obviously- our calendars are wrong. So, I’ve created a new seasonal calendar that makes so much more sense than the one we currently have. Check it out.

June through August- this is summer
September through Thanksgiving- this is autumn
Thanksgiving until the last bad day of March- this is winter
First nice day of March through May- this is spring

Now, please arrange your schedules and calendars appropriately.

GAME TIME!

Imagine we stacked hearses vertically. How many hearses would it take to be as tall as Mount Everest?

a) 1,252
b) 1,452
c) 1,652

BEST PODCASTS FOR FUNERAL PROFESSIONALS

I love podcasts- like a lot. In 2021, there are so many to listen to and it can be hard to figure out which ones are right for you. So, here are a few that might be a good fit for funeral professionals.

1) Undertaking: The Podcast

Description: Undertaking The Podcast is a way to alleviate the professional solitude and connect funeral directors despite our irregular schedules. It’s a place for us to discuss current issues, learn from each other, and hear from industry experts.

My take: It’s always good to hear from like-minded peers. This podcast allows you to level up your knowledge while making it feel like you’re hanging out with a couple of friends.

2) All It Takes Is a Goal with Jon Acuff

Description: The future belongs to finishers. Join New York Times Bestselling author and speaker Jon Acuff as he explores the best tips, tricks, and techniques to get from where you are today to where you want to be tomorrow. All it takes is a goal.

My Take: Jon Acuff is a baller. He communicates great advice with a lot of practicality and humor. You might recognize Jon as the 2019 ICCFA keynote speaker, but his list of accomplishments is so much more than that. I have one rule with Jon- if he makes it, I will recommend it. So, this one is great for those who want to build up the business and themselves.

3) An Oral History of The Office

Description: Fifteen years ago, the American television landscape changed forever with the launch of a new series that struggled initially, but became one of television’s most beloved and enduring comedies. “An Oral History of The Office” pulls back the curtain on what went into creating this unstoppable force in American popular culture and why it continues to resonate with new audiences today. Hosted by Brian Baumgartner (Kevin Malone) and produced by Propagate Content, the podcast features interviews with the cast and creators from The Office and reveals some never-before-heard stories from the people who were there from the very beginning.

My Take: The Office is one of the most popular television shows of all time. Along with this series being great for fans of the show, it also is great for anyone who is a fan of the creative process. I binged this series and was fascinated by the ups-and-downs it took to produce what many call a modern masterpiece. If you’re involved in the business building aspect of your company or the marketing side- I highly recommend this show.

4) Bonus- The Nateland Podcast

We all need time to not really think about anything. This podcast is perfect for that. Basically, it’s three comedians vaguely discussing topics and making fun of each other. Perfect for getting your mind off of things.
