Pimp my HEARSE? | FFFW #32

DEATH TO WINTER

I just realized that we never celebrated winter ending here on the FFFW. But, I’m looking outside my window and seeing how awesome it is, and I can’t help but dance on the grave of winter while I wear my shorts, sandals, and my dripping t-shirts. Every Friday is awesome, but Fridays in the spring and summer are just extra awesome. Let’s go!

GAME TIME!

What year was the first mortuary class established in the US?

  1. 1882
  2. 1879
  3. 1902

SHOULD YOUR FUNERAL HOME BE ON TIKTOK?

TikTok almost isn’t new anymore. It started getting mainstream in 2019 and built a massive user base during the pandemic. So with so many people being on a platform, shouldn’t you be there too?

Well, no… but yes. See, your demographic isn’t actively using TikTok enough to justify a large budget and time commitment to it. There’s also no way to target your content specifically to your community. So for the time being, you shouldn’t stress too much over this platform. That being said, adapting the trends to a funeral home would be amazing to see, and we here at the FFFW VERY MUCH support it. So, though you don’t HAVE to and it might not be SUPER beneficial, you should start making some Toks.

So what does work? Still, the best platform for reaching people 55 and up (your target demographic) is Facebook. And nobody manages funeral homes on Facebook as well as DISRUPT Media. If you’re interested in seeing high ROI through social media then you should see what all DM has to offer!

HEARSES NEED SOME CHANGES

Due to devastating events, there’s a proposed bill in Maine that would create regulations on funeral vehicles. If you want to know more about that, please click here. Now, this is a serious story and I’m not going to try to make a funny listicle out of the dangers of hearses and political measures. However, this story does relate to the idea of changing hearses which is definitely something that I will make a listicle about. So… here we go!

CHANGES I WOULD MAKE TO A HEARSE IF I WERE ON A SHOW CALLED “PIMP MY HEARSE” AND NO ONE WOULD BE OFFENDED BY MY DECISIONS IN RELATION TO A VEHICLE USED FOR FUNERAL NEEDS:

  1. Let’s make these cars a bit more flashy.

If we really want people to pay attention to a procession, we need to do better than slick black and a little flag. For example, people see police cars and ambulances, and they stop. So hearses need some light bars, and instead of sirens, we blare out some church organ music.
  2. Call Elon.

Let’s slap a Tesla logo on the hood. I don’t care if it’s a Tesla, we just want people to think it’s a Tesla. So, let’s get the T on the front and make everyone assume that this hearse belongs to the coolest funeral home ever. Also, if you just want to see a Tesla hearse- check it here
  3. Go to the future (well, back to it).

Delorean doors. You’ll be looking so ‘McFly’ when ole Betsy has wings.

Some people may love these ideas, some may think they’re terrible, but we can all agree that hearses are inherently cool and deserve all the respect and attention they can get, and that’s all I’m trying to do here.

COMIC OF THE WEEK

YOU OTTER BE PROUD

Let’s be honest, our profession gets a lot of negative press, so we’ve searched the internet to find stories of funeral things getting respect and doing great things!

  1. Why this teacher became a funeral director
  2. Funeral home helps woman waiting for mother’s ashes for nearly 20 years
  3. Local funeral home work to help clients get reimbursed for COVID funerals
