Selected’s 2020 NextGen Seminar Topics: Conflict Resolution and Healthy Businesses
DEERFIELD, ILL. — Selected Independent Funeral Homes’ 2020 NextGen Seminar will be held January 26-30 on the island of St. Kitts.
Selected Independent Funeral Homes created the NextGen program to bring together young funeral professionals, as well as those new to the profession. The four-day NextGen Seminar, held annually, offers educational and networking sessions for its participants. This year’s Seminar will feature two dynamic speakers.
David Nixon, CMC, will lead the session “Look on the Business Side,” that will tap into participants to crowdsource which topics to focus on from a variety of financial and business areas including mergers/acquisitions, budgeting, account receivables and succession planning.
Dr. Lisa Prosser-Dodds will lead the session “Conflict Happens! Resolution through Effective Communication,” that will provide key tools to effectively address and resolve the conflicts that inevitably occur with co-workers and clients in order to foster healthy relationships.
Following both presentations, special “Speakers Unplugged” sessions will allow ample time for speakers to address questions as well as engage in open discussion with participants. In addition, participants will have a chance to address the issues that matter most to them during the “Next Practices Exchange” session facilitated by NextGen Co-Chairs Nicole Mothe, Mothe Funeral Homes, New Orleans, LA, and Colin Haskett, Haskett Funeral Homes, Lucan, ON, Canada.
During the Seminar, Selected also will recognize the recipient of the 2020 NextGen Professional of the Year Award which highlights career achievements, community/organization involvement and awards/achievements of funeral professionals under the age of 50.
“The NextGen Seminar gives me a lot of content,” said Josh Blake of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, TX. “I’m able to take these conversations back home, apply these ideas and share them with our staff.”
The 2020 NextGen Seminar is sponsored in part by Kelco Supply Company.
