President of NFDMA is Outraged at Airing of ‘Best Funeral Ever’
In an official press release emailed out late Tuesday evening NFDMA President Gregory T. Burrell stated his outrage over the airing of the TLC reality show ‘Best Funeral Ever’.
From NFDMA:
Gregory T. Burrell, President of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians
Association, Inc., along with many other funeral professionals across the country, is
outraged at the airing of the show “Best Funeral Ever”. We want to express our
sincere apology to those persons who are experiencing the loss of a loved one and
were subject to the airing of the show.It is the position of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association,
Inc. that we are not in favor of any person or media which degrades the funeral
industry. The funeral profession is above many others because it is one that must
console those who deal with personal crisis while battling through grief and dealing
with the loss of a loved one. The show, “Best Funeral Ever” is not an
appropriate subject matter in light of the tragedies we have just witnessed in
Connecticut. We would like to express to the general public and media that this show does not in
any way reflect how most funeral service professionals conduct funeral services.
Our industry colleagues conduct dignified, sacred and professional services to honor
the life of the deceased person. We are very disappointed that the TLC network
would use the media to produce and air a show which would not do the same.nfdma@nfdma.com
