DISCLAIMER: None of the F’s in FFFW stand for “facts.” Enjoy the jokes and satire.

Welcome to October! This is a big month. Why?

1) October has the best weather (warm fall).

2) People start displaying those giant 12-foot skeletons for people to admire and make fun of.

3) NFDA is in New Orleans, and we’ll all get to hang out!

So, let’s keep kicking October off the right way!

Excited for NFDA New Orleans this year? We are! The biggest show of the year is only a few weeks away and we can’t wait to see you at #NFDA2024!

We’re in Booth 1852 this year. Stop by to see how MemoryShare has simplified livestreaming and is transforming the way funeral homes reach more families. (Or just come grab a pair of socks or a NSFW hoodie—we’ll have those too.)

See you in New Orleans!

Funeral Director goes CRAZY by Untucking Shirt

Hold onto your embalming fluids, folks—something truly scandalous just went down in the world of funeral service. A funeral director, typically the poster child of polished professionalism, untucked his shirt after the last service of the day. Yes, you heard that right—shirt, untucked. And it’s causing ripples across the industry.

“I just thought… why not?” said the daring director, who shall remain unnamed, fearing retribution from the more buttoned-up members of the profession. “I mean, it was the end of the day, and my back was killing me. I figured, what’s the harm?”

The reactions from more seasoned pros were swift. One veteran director, visibly shaken, immediately checked his tie knot—just to make sure things weren’t spiraling completely out of control. “Back in my day, you could lose your job for a stunt like that,” he muttered.

For now, though, this rebellious director’s bold fashion move has sparked conversations across funeral homes nationwide. If you happen to spot an untucked shirt at your next service, don’t be alarmed—it’s just a small step toward a more laid-back future. Or, as one young funeral pro put it, “Maybe we can offer personalized services and not always look like we’re attending our own funeral.”

Trivia

An adult humpback whale can weigh 80,000 lbs. How many gallons of embalming fluid would you need to embalm something that weighs 80,000 lbs?

(Click the correct answer, and you’ll get a video of a puppy. Click the wrong answer, and you’ll see candy corn.)

Answer Choices:
A) 600
B) 1,600
C) 2,600

You Otter Be Proud

Here’s some good news going on in the profession.

  1. This Minnesota forest is a cemetery alternative, part of growing green burial trend
  2. Old Lick Cemetery in Roanoke cleaned, repaired with help of national expert
  3. Fifth-generation funeral director Jeff Monreal helps families grieve, celebrate loved ones
