BACK TO SCHOOL

For many families across the U S of A, this time of year means the kids are getting back in class and fall sports/activities are underway. Some schools started this week, and some kids still have a couple more weeks to soak in their summer glory as they wonder why their life isn’t as cool as the crew from Outer Banks. If you don’t get that reference, ask someone under 25, they certainly will. All that being said, today isn’t about going to class, today’s all about going to the best Fast Wrap restaurant in the funeral space. Good news for you, we deliver. So, to kick off your fine-dining experience, we have a beautiful GIF of a puppy doing puppy things!

GAME TIME!

Two lies, one truth. Two of these are made-up requests for funerals/viewings, one is an extravagant, but real request that was performed for a life celebration.

“Can you pose our loved one with a tray of cookies so people can take one from her as they walk by the casket?”

“Can you pose our loved one in a riding lawn mower and put him in the yard?”

“Can you pose our loved one standing in the corner of a boxing ring wearing gloves as if they’re about to fight?”

HOW TO MAXIMIZE YOUR TIME

You’re very busy. You have to be. This profession doesn’t lend itself to copious amounts of free time and a light workload. So, wouldn’t it be nice to have some backup? Wouldn’t it feel freeing to have people you trust working with your company and brand? Well, DISRUPT Media wants to give you those feelings and so much more.

Not only does DISRUPT Media provide you with a digital marketing strategy, 24/7 page monitoring (reading messages, responding to comments, etc.), and the boldest ideas to help you pierce through the noise, but DISRUPT Media gives you a full-blown team. That’s right.

Members of DISRUPT Media have access to writers, graphic designers, creative developers, and an analytics team that all share the same goal: they want to see you succeed.

Sounds good? Too good? Well… good. It only gets better because this whole team only costs a third of what you might pay one full-time employee.

See how DISRUPT Media can help you.

FOCUS ON THE B-PLAYERS

This week, we ran an interesting article about focusing on the “B-players” on your team. As the article explains, these aren’t your people who hit home runs for the company all the time, but sometimes they do and they’re solid team players. Check out the full article right here.

This article got me thinking about some of the awesome B-players out there. You know, the people who stay in the shadows and help the main characters get the glory. Here’s my list.

1) Sporks. I’ve always thought these utensils were underrated. No, they’re not the best at being a spoon, or a fork. However they are great at being who they are, and they get the job done. It’s cool that you can use them for soup or chicken. I’m a big fan. I know a guy who only uses spoons (no forks, ever) and I often contemplate how much more he’d enjoy life if he would just trust in a good spork.

2) Honda Accords. No, they’re not fancy, or cool. No one’s ever bragged about owning one, but they rock. As someone who has had two, I can go on-and-on about their pros. No, they’re not a muscle car, or a Tesla, or a cool truck, but they get the job done and they deserve some appreciation.

3) Copy paper. It’s completely blank, but that just means you can do anything you want with it. I know everyone’s going paperless and all that, but copy paper is pretty cool. I’m a fan. Let’s give it the credit it deserves.

And of course…

COMIC OF THE WEEK

Yeah, Slash that.

YOU OTTER BE PROUD

Let’s be honest, our profession gets a lot of negative press, so we’ve searched the internet to find stories of funeral things getting respect and doing great things!
1) Harrell takes over Putnam Funeral Home as longtime owners retire
2) Brighton volunteers restore headstones of Civil War vets, others in Old Village Cemetery
3) Gravestone of Lansing pioneer returns to Mt. Hope Cemetery after being lost for 146 years
