3 things funeral pros can do to get into the summer spirit

Y’all, we are in the midst of summer right now. And I’m personally fully embracing all the summer vibes. I mean, what a summer it is to be alive! The new Twister movie is about to come out, we have the Olympics, and mullets are in style.

But I get not everyone has had the best start to summer, and it can be hard to just enjoy life when you’re busy with work.

So here are three things you can do to get nice and summery while helping families deal with the tragedy of death.

Listen to “Gettin’ Jiggy With It” as Much as Possible!

Removal car? Hearse? Office? It doesn’t matter where you’re at; crank this banger as loud as possible. Many would say, “What about ‘Summertime,’ isn’t that Will Smith summer bop?” To that, I say: no. It’s a great song, but it doesn’t evoke the same amount of energy and joy as its follow-up. No debate.

I mean think about these lyrics:
“No love for the haters, the haters
Mad ’cause I got floor seats at the Lakers
See me on the fifty yard line with the Raiders
Met Ali, he told me I’m the greatest”

Eat Ice Cream Every Thursday

This is extremely important! Having that sweet treat to look forward to will boost morale, develop a good culture, and—as an added benefit—help American dairy farmers! But you must do it on Thursday. It brings the weekend closer, and it gives you something nice to hold you over until the FFFW the next day.

Call Any Trip (near or far) a Roadtrip

This week, I’ve taken several road trips to the grocery store, Raising Canes, and the gas station. It’s a whole vibe.

Trivia

The largest shark species weighs about 45,000 lbs. How many steel caskets would it take to equal that same weight?

Click on the correct answer, and you’ll see a puppy dog. Get it wrong, and you’ll see someone hurting themselves.

A) 225
B) 2,250
C) 22,500

You Otter Be Proud

Here’s some good news going on in the profession.

  1. New Gregg County burial policy aims to help funeral homes
  2. Old Lick Cemetery in Roanoke cleaned, repaired with help of national expert
  3. Fifth-generation funeral director Jeff Monreal helps families grieve, celebrate loved ones
