HAPPY NINTH OF JULY
Everyone loves the fourth; we light up the sky, blow things up, grill hot dogs, and wear Old Navy t-shirts for that day every year. I get it, it’s a holiday, but July ninth is special too. In 2005, it was this special day when skateboarder Danny Way jumped the Great Wall of China. That’s pretty cool, so today we’re celebrating BIG for our boy Danny!

GIFs and I have a love and hate relationship. Ninety percent of the time that I run across them in the wild I think, “I could have gone without that.” They can be so extra. But, my friends, the mountains of misplaced motion graphics are all worth it when you find the perfect one. Yes, like a sip of water in the middle of a desert, finding the one GIF that is perfectly placed in a comment or a group text is a beautiful thing!
Now, creating that amazing moment involves an equation: (Solid GIF) + (Proper Placement) = (Magic). I’m going to help you with the first half. I’m about to show you 10 beautiful pieces of art that could be perfect for your next digital death-care convo. What I can’t help you with is the second half. You need to experiment and figure that out for yourself. I remember when I first started playing with GIFs for the first time. I felt so much power being able to send a never ending video loop of my favorite scene from The Office, but retrospectively speaking, I sent some duds. Now, after years of studying the craft, I feel I can safely and smartly handle the responsibility attached to this photo format.
