Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery Expanding Again with Garden of Devotion Groundbreaking

Springfield, Penn. (May 8, 2026) – After unveiling the first Archdiocesan cremation-only building late last year, Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery is growing again. In April, the cemetery broke ground on the new Garden of Devotion mausoleum, which will house more than 700 caskets and urns when it opens in late 2026.

“The response to our last expansion was tremendous, and we want to ensure anyone who wants Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery to be their final resting place will have an opportunity to do so,” says Matt Sobon, Senior Vice President of Operations, Everstory Partners, which manages the cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

When complete in December, the new space will have 444 spaces for caskets, 212 indoor glass-front niches for urns and 125 granite niches for urns outside. Many indoor glass-front niches can hold up to three urns, allowing family members to be placed together.

The mausoleum was designed in partnership with the church and designed and consecrated in accordance with the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, ensuring it will be a place of prayer, reverence, and hope in the Resurrection for the Catholic community.

In December 2025, the Reflections Suite opened at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, featuring more than 1,000 exterior granite and interior glass-front niches as alternatives to burial and in accordance with Vatican guidance on the respectful disposition of cremated remains.

Both projects are part of a nationwide investment by Everstory Partners to help bring more comfort to families as they celebrate the lives of their loved ones. This includes new spaces for interment, areas for reflection, interiors reminiscent of the hospitality industry, and improved technology.
