Alhiser-Comer Mortuary Announces Acquisition of Allen Brothers Mortuary

North County, San Diego, CA — Alhiser-Comer Mortuary proudly announces the acquisition of Allen Brothers Mortuary’s Vista and San Marcos Chapels, uniting these long standing, family-owned funeral homes with deep roots in North County San Diego.

Founded in 1964 by brothers Frank and C. Robert “Bob” Allen, Allen Brothers Mortuary has  served generations of families in Vista and San Marcos with personalized, dignified care. Together, they built a respected, community-centered firm that has remained family operated for over six decades. The second generation, Linda Allen, continued the tradition,  maintaining a strong commitment to compassionate, individualized service.

Alhiser-Comer Mortuary’s history dates back to 1893, making it the oldest continually  operating business in Escondido and the oldest family-owned funeral home in San Diego  County. Through multiple generations of leadership the mortuary has maintained a tradition of innovation, professionalism, and community involvement.

In 1989, Bill Comer and his son Stuart Comer purchased the mortuary, continuing its  family-owned legacy. Today, Megan Comer, a third-generation funeral director, serves as sole owner and operator. Under her leadership, the mortuary has expanded community  partnerships, completed thoughtful renovations, and remained deeply committed to serving families with dignity and compassion.

“This acquisition represents the continuation of a shared legacy,” said Megan Comer. “The  Allen family built a remarkable reputation in North County. We are honored to carry that tradition forward and remain committed to providing the same personalized care families  have trusted for generations.”

Allen Brothers Mortuary will continue operating with the same dedication to service and  community involvement that has defined it since its founding.

Together, these historic firms represent more than 130 years of combined funeral service tradition in North County San Diego; united by family values, professional excellence, and a commitment to caring for every family they serve.
