The Charity Box Kiosk – NFDA 2022 Spotlight

Charity Box is an all-in-one kiosk for funerals. They serve as the guestbook, memorial page, and donation center.

Interview notes and highlights:

First, tell us a little bit about your product.

Charity Box is an all in one kiosk for funerals. We serve as the guestbook, memorial page, and donation center. And everything that happens on our kiosk at your loved one’s service gets preserved on a website so that you can always look back and see the guestbook and donations that were made in honor of the deceased.

How did this idea come about?

I heard from so many friends and family members about these problems they were having. I have a substantial background in charity work so it started as a way to take the burden off of families. The way it is now, if I give a donation in honor of someone, that donation gets passed on to their grieving loved one, who, at maybe the hardest time in their life, now has to figure out what to do with this donation. I wanted to remove that burden, then as I got to talking to people who had lost loved ones, and to Funeral Directors, I saw that there was so much more we could offer, and that’s where the digital guestbook and website come in.

What are you most excited about accomplishing at NFDA?

As a team, we want to be there to listen and learn. We think we have something special but we know that there is so much more for us to learn from Funeral Directors about how to exist in this industry with the dignity and grace that families expect. This NFDA will definitely be focused on learning how we can best serve funeral homes and the families they serve.

What do you most want Funeral Directors to take away from your booth?

I want to show them how much we value them as potential partners. Everyone on our team comes from industries where customer service is so much more than a transaction, we all love being in business with our customers. So I want funeral directors to know that we aren’t there to sell them a product and then move on. We want to learn how to be a valuable partner in their respective operations.
