Classy. Bacon. Coffin. For Those Who Love Bacon to Death

I am really at a loss for words on this one. It appears that there is a nice size niche market for bacon lovers because when you Google “products using bacon” there are over 19 million results that lead to some of the craziest “bacon” infused or inspired products. There is even a “Royal Bacon Society – Bacon Lovers Unite” who is pounding the message; “Bacon is Meat Candy”. So I guess when I was sent a tweet last Friday evening with a link to the “Bacon Coffin” I shouldn’t have been surprised.

The fine people of  J&D Foods, who over the years have created a number of bacon themed items, launched last week, the “Bacon Coffin”.

The coffins are painted to look just like the deceased’s favorite food — with what the company calls a “bacon and pork shading.” They are accented with gold handles and come with an adjustable bed and mattress, ivory crepe linens and, yes, a bacon memorial tube.

On the company’s blog, http://www.baconsaltblog.com, they say, “We’ve covered a lot of ground with bacon here at J&D’s – food, lip balm, even baconlube. We decided to take this one step further this year by introducing a new product, the Bacon Coffin – for people that love bacon to death. Now you can take your love of bacon with you into the afterlife.”

If your interested in purchasing one of these magnificent caskets, you can do so for just under $3,000 at www.baconcoffin.com.
