Shark Week: 7 Similarities Between Sharks and Funeral Directors

In honor of Discovery’s Shark Week, we wanted to honor another rare and graceful creature: the funeral director. The ocean’s predators and land’s death experts have more in common than you might think.

Both sharks and funeral directors are quiet, graceful creatures.

All funeral directors are not alike, just as all sharks are not alike.

[While many believe the funeral industry is a boys club, women in the industry are surging] Funeral directors come in all shapes and sizes, just like sharks. Some are gentile giants, and some are scrappy little beasts.

They have special powers!

Sharks can detect slight changes in water temperature, pressure, or electrical current.

Funeral directors can fix broken hearts.

Funeral Directors and Sharks are greatly misunderstood

Sharks are constantly pinned as vicious predators. Funeral directors are labeled as depressing death lovers. Both are just trying to live their lives and help others.

Both are constantly moving

Sharks keep moving to stay alive. Funeral directors keep moving because we don’t stay alive.

Both are likely the last thing you’d ever want to meet.

Funeral Directors and Sharks are both incredibly great dancers.
