Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions Announces Shift In Production Plants
From Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions’ Director of Marketing/Communications:
Yesterday Matthews Aurora Funeral Solutions announced we will shift production of the legacy Aurora hardwood caskets from our plant in Piney Flats, TN to our plant in York, PA. The move will allow us to improve our product quality and to create an upgraded, integrated Matthews Aurora wood casket product line.
For 85 years, the York plant has produced wood caskets which are second-to-none in the industry. As the premier wood casket producer, York’s capacity is more than five times that of Piney Flats. We have recently made multi-million dollar investments there in state-of-the-art finishing systems, lumber curing and wood processing to drive innovation and preeminent quality standards. As we create an integrated wood casket product line, nearly all products currently produced in Piney Flats will continue to be produced at York.
The integrated line will combine the best features from both legacy companies’ lines, offering enhanced functionality to create the best wood caskets in the market. When notifying our funeral home customers of the impending transition, Matthews Aurora leadership reiterated our steadfast commitment to ensuring they receive seamless service throughout the integration process. The transition will begin this fall and will be completed by early 2017. We also recently announced that we will continue to operate the Aurora, IN metal casket plant as part of our ongoing integrated manufacturing network.
