Selected’s 2018 NextGen Seminar Topics: Shift Mindsets & Connected Technology Strategy

DEERFIELD, ILL. —November 16, 2017— Selected Independent Funeral Homes’   2018 NextGen Seminar will be held on January 21-25 at the Hyatt Regency Resort on Palm Beach, Aruba.

Selected Independent Funeral Homes created the NextGen program to bring together young funeral professionals, as well as acknowledge those new to the profession. The four-day NextGen Seminar, held annually, offers educational and networking sessions for its participants. This year’s Seminar will feature two dynamic speakers.

Britta Murphy of Horan & McConaty in Denver, CO will lead a session “The Outward Mindset: How to Change Lives and Transform Organizations,” based on the Arbinger Institute’s philosophy that shifting to an outward mindset is one change that most dramatically improves performance, sparks collaboration and accelerates innovation.

“Digital 360°™—How Connected Strategy Will Determine Survival in the Information Age” will be presented by Courtney Gould Miller, Esq. of MKJ Marketing. Today’s economy is different. Families expect more, better, faster, and it’s survival of the fittest to deliver. Gould Miller will demonstrate how technology is the solution.

New this year will be the “Speakers Unplugged” sessions which allow members to have informal conversations with presenters and ask specific questions. The meeting will culminate with the annual best practices exchange where members share the best ideas from their firm and discuss the topics that concern them the most.

During the Seminar, Selected also will recognize the recipient of the 2018 NextGen Professional of the Year Award which highlights career achievements, community/organization involvement and awards/achievements of funeral professionals under the age of 50.

“The NextGen Seminar gives me a lot of content,” said Josh Blake of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, TX and NextGen Advisory Co-Chair. “I’m able to take these conversations back home, apply these ideas and share them with our staff.”

The 2018 NextGen Seminar is sponsored in part by Kelco Supply Company.
