Coleman Funeral Home Hires “Unconventional” DISRUPT Media
Looking for marketing help from an “unconventional” resource, Coleman Funeral Home, with locations in both Oxford and Olive Branch, MS, has selected DISRUPT Media to coordinate its social media strategy and content management. Using their proprietary FUNERAL Social Design Process, DISRUPT Media is helping Coleman Funeral Home reach its goal of understanding each family’s particular needs and responding in a way that brings comfort, closure and healing.
“The way a family selects a funeral home is changing these days. No longer does a family look in the yellow pages of the phone book or just use ‘our family’s’ funeral home”, stated Tom Fowlkes, co-owner of Coleman Funeral Home. “It is more likely these days that the people making arrangements for a family member’s funeral live out of town and are using the web and/or their smart phone to find a funeral home, compare prices and services and even to make arrangements.”
Coleman Funeral Home has long believed that the traditional model of funeral homes, especially in the South, is not meeting the needs of families. Families are in need of services that have not been typically provided by funeral homes (catered meals, assistance with travel plans, etc.) plus they desire more personalized/non-traditional memorial services (cookouts, golf outings, etc.). All of this while being more price-sensitive and looking for a higher level of service at a price which does not require families to sacrifice their financial security.
“Social media should be a crucial component of a growing funeral home’s marketing plan,” commented Fowlkes. “At Coleman Funeral Home, we have increased engagement and we are making an impact thanks to DISRUPT Media and their ‘unconventional’ marketing leader, Ryan Thogmartin.”
“Social media isn’t just about amassing huge quantities of friends, fans and likes. It’s about leveraging that online following for the benefit of the funeral home,” said Ryan Thogmartin, president and CEO of DISRUPT media. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Coleman Funeral Home in further connecting its loyal and dedicated following to the company.”
