NYPD Still Ticketing Funeral Directors, Outrage Unleashed – Video

imageRobert Mestrandrea carts around corpses for a living. He is a funeral director who told Fox 5 News that he can’t believe what the NYPD did to him.

He drove to the Bronx to pick up a body. He was driving one van and his partner Valerie was driving another. Mestrandrea says the streets were so jammed, finding a space was next to the building was impossible, so they both pulled in to a bus stop.

When they came back out with the body, a cop was writing them tickets. Mestrandrea showed the officer the body on the cart and pointed out the funeral placard on the dashboard of the hearse, but the officer gave them the tickets anyway.

Mestrandrea challenged the tickets in traffic court, but the judge said the vans were blocking a bus stop, which isn’t fair to the bus riders.

The funeral director admitted he parked in an illegal spot, the NYPD said, so ultimately the tickets stand.
