Remember way back in 2009 when we shared the patent filing for the “screw in coffin”?

The inventor, Donald Scruggs, was recently featured on the series INVENTORS on PBS. A promo for the show has been posted on Youtube. Check it out…

Donald Scruggs knows being buried vertically in a coffin that screws into the ground is not for everyone. But he thinks his interment invention could save money and make better use of space than traditional burial. The screw-in coffin is one of many patents Don, a mechanical engineer, has to his name, though none of the others are quite as macabre. Learn more in this debut episode of “Inventors.”

For all the morbid details of the screw-in coffin, aka the ‘Easy Inter Burial Container,’ read Don’s patent in full:http://www.google.com/patents/US20070050958

‘Inventors’ is a series of portrait videos by filmmaker and photographer David Friedman, chronicling the work of contemporary inventors from all walks of life. It offers rare glimpses into the inspiration for their creations, which range from the first digital camera and first video game console to a drive-able amphibious ice-fishing vehicle.

The question is: Who wants to be screwed-in the ground?
