Pierce Mortuary Colleges held the first Continuing Education event for funeral professionals in January that featured a real-time video broadcast of a live-audience presentation to remote locations with additional audiences. All sites were able to watch the presentations as well as interact with the presenters via video and audio feeds.
Funeral professionals received 3 hours of CEU credit for the three presentations that were streamed from Atlanta, GA, where Wilbert Licensee Piedmont Precast of Atlanta hosted the live presentation. Sexton Wilbert hosted one remote location in Bloomington, IN and SI Funeral Services hosted the second remote location in Overland Park, KS.
The three presentations offered a wide range of topics: embalming methods and pointers from David Hicks of Pierce Chemicals; how families determine value and make decisions relative to funeral products and services from Mark Klingenberger, Wilbert Funeral Services; and how funeral homes can remain vital, relevant and profitable from Michael Hays of Mid-America College of Funeral Service.

Continued Education is more than a licensing requirement – it is an opportunity for those that attend to expand their professional horizons, stay up to speed with new developments, and to network in new ways.”
