EXCLUSIVE: Two Years Later Eterni.me Has 30,000 Users But Hasn’t Launched Yet, Still Pursuing Digital Immortality

Could an AI avatar collect all your thoughts and memories, then become a digital clone of yourself and “live” forever?

We first posted about Eterni.me two years ago. After that they went silent. To refresh, Eternime preserves your most important thoughts, stories and memories for eternity.

This past weekend we received an email from company CEO, Marius Ursache. In the email Marius said:

Three weeks ago we sent out our first update on our progress at Eternime. In short, we’re now making waves with internal tests and soon want to open up our beta to first 50 users of the 30,000+ on the waiting list!

Ursache provided a link to a lengthy summary of the story of Eterni.me, how they got started and all the events that has transpired of the past two years to get them to where they are today.

Ursache writes this about the ‘why’ of Eterni.me:

My grandmother died four years ago, after fighting Alzheimer’s for the last years of her life. Shortly after she passed away, I realized I only had a few photos left from her, and my own memories about the moments we spent together and the stories she told. I became angry with myself for not spending more time with her, but also frustrated when I realized that my grandmother’s life story (she was almost 90 when she passed away)—full of struggle, joy, love, desperation and faith—left behind only a few photos and memories. Everything else was lost forever.

Here is a quick video that shows how Eterni.me works:

This is a very interesting company and they provide a very cool story of how they became to be and what their end goal is. I am interested to see how the story continues to unfold. There are many different ways for people to record their life story but now are as life like as this.

Would you want an avatar that could tell your life story and live forever?
