Monrovia, MD – Thacker Caskets, Inc. is thrilled to commemorate 85 years of dedicated service  in the funeral services and supply industry in 2024. Established in 1939 as a modest casket  jobber in the heart of Washington, D.C., Thacker Caskets has evolved into the largest family owned and operated casket supplier in the United States.

The journey began with Carl C. Thacker, who founded the company in 1939 to serve the greater  Washington, D.C. market as a local funeral supply jobber. Despite his untimely passing in 1981,  Carl’s legacy was carried forward by his wife, Audrey, and son, CJ Thacker. Together, they were unwavering in their commitment to realizing Carl’s dream, leading the company to  unprecedented growth and success.

Reflecting upon the company’s past, Audrey said, “As I watch Thacker Caskets celebrate its 85th  year, I am filled with pride and gratitude. This company has been a cornerstone of my life, and  seeing it flourish even as I step back is a testament to the dedication and integrity that have  been its foundation. The values we instilled—compassion, quality, and service—continue to  guide every decision. Watching my son and grandchildren carry forward this work with the  same dedication and integrity reassures me that what we started all those years ago will  continue to make a difference for many more years.”

While Audrey has since retired, Thacker is proudly operated by two generations of the Thacker  family. This enduring legacy is a testament to their continuous innovation and dedication to  the funeral industry. Thacker Caskets is proud to offer Made in America products, with all their  metal caskets crafted at their manufacturing facility in Florence, Alabama.

CJ Thacker, CEO, said, “Our 85-year journey is a testament to the trust and loyalty our  customers have placed in us over the decades. At Thacker Caskets, we’ve remained committed  to being the most trusted funeral supplier by providing honest products, at an honest price,  with honest service. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to continuing this  tradition of excellence, driven by our dedication to family values and maintaining relationships with all of our funeral home customers.”

Built on a foundation of providing an honest product at an honest price, Thacker also values excellent customer service ideals, which is evident in that they were awarded #1 in service 5  years in a row through a nationwide survey conducted by Funeral Service Insider. In addition to  #1 in service, Thacker Caskets is consistently ranked among the Top 3 in quality, showcasing a commitment to quality and service that has been a fundamental principle for Thacker Caskets since its inception.

The company’s growth trajectory continues with the relocation in June 2020 to a newly  constructed, fully customized facility in Monrovia, Maryland, which now serves as the  headquarters and Baltimore/DC Metro-based warehouse. In addition, they have acquired  several casket companies, allowing them to continue their growth, and they expanded into  Texas this year as they opened their 17th distribution center. As Thacker Caskets looks to the  future, they are excited to expand their product offerings with the introduction of two new  casket lines, as well as the Impressions product line, which includes personalized casket panel  inserts, casket lid art, and memorial portraits.

Thacker Caskets, Inc. remains committed to honoring its past while embracing the future,  ensuring its products and services continue to meet the evolving needs of the funeral service  industry for generations to come.
