CANA’s 106th Annual Cremation Innovation Convention is in Chicago this September

WHEELING, IL—The Cremation Association of North America (CANA) returns to Chicago, Illinois for the Association’s Annual Convention this fall. This lakefront gem of a big city, featured in so many popular movies and television shows, will serve as a stunning backdrop for the engaging presentations, innovative exhibitors, and Good Times* that define every CANA event. Known for attracting some of the most forward-thinking owners and managers in the profession, CANA’s Convention offers sessions with practical solutions to address today’s challenges and meet tomorrow’s demand. Registration is open, so act now to claim your booth, sponsorship or seat to connect with cremation experts from across the profession… and all that jazz!*

What unites everyone at CANA’s Cremation Convention? Each one of the attendees is a business leader… and a strategic thinker… and a bit burned out… a cremation innovator… and aspiring to grow. Does that answer your question?* CANA’s Annual Convention is the premier event for innovative cremation professionals to share ideas, learn from experts, and see the newest products and services from industry suppliers. This September 11-13, 2024, death care professionals are invited to connect with cremation leaders from across the profession, discover new products and services from more than 60 exhibitors, find inspiration while earning CE, and explore the Windy City!

Scheduled a bit later this year to bypass the crowds for Lollapalooza and the Democratic National Convention, CANA Convention attendees will be able to enjoy the last few days of summer in a city that has it all! Whether your ideal trip is filled with restaurants and flavor, culture and sports, theatre and art, shopping and exploring, or nature and views – Chicago is second to none. That’s why the CANA Convention is schedule so your evenings are free to take in all that the city has to offer. The Convention hotel is the Fairmont Chicago, located in the Loop, just steps from Millennium Park and less than a mile from Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, Art Institute of Chicago, Cadillac Theater, the Bean and the Picasso and much more! Make your reservation now at canarooms.com.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.* That’s why the Funeral Service Foundation and CANA are working together to welcome five scholarship winners to help celebrate the 106th Cremation Innovation Convention. Valued at up to $2,200, each scholarship covers full registration for the event, plus three nights at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, and up to $500 in travel reimbursement. Scholarships are open to anyone in funeral, cremation, and cemetery service who wants to invest in their success with cremation, including current students. The deadline to apply is June 12, 2024, and scholarship winners will be notified in early July to make their plans to join CANA in Chicago in September. For more information and to apply, candidates should visit cremationassociation.org/CANAROI.

This year, CANA offers an optional, pre-convention workshop to address The Silent Problem: Talking about Mental Health and Funeral Service. After her well-regarded presentation at last year’s convention, Dr. Sara Murphy returns with Aaron Pelchat, LCSW, to address the very real mental health crisis sweeping this emotionally intensive and increasingly stressful field. Working from different areas of expertise, Murphy and Pelchat will guide participants in taking steps toward self-empowerment in their mental health journeys personally and professionally. For just $200, attendees will learn and practice evidence-based therapeutic tools for improving mental health outcomes on Wednesday, September 11. Add the workshop to your convention registration and receive a discount on both experiences!

It’s just over 106 days to the Chicago Convention, with plenty of time to make your travel arrangements and pick up your tickets to attend. It’s bright… and we’re wearing sunglasses. Hit it.* Register now for CANA’s 106th Cremation Innovation Convention: September 11-13, 2024. Visit cremationassociation.org/CANA24 to learn more.

*With thanks to the Evans family, Velma Kelly, the Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, and the Blues Brothers for making Chicago such a quotable and notable experience!
