INDIANAPOLIS (January 16, 2026) – The International Order of the Golden Rule (OGR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brenden Jacobsen of Ninness Funeral Home in New Zealand and Adam Thielen of Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral & Crematory in Dubuque, Iowa, to the OGR Foundation Board of Directors.

The OGR Foundation supports the next generation of funeral service professionals through scholarships, education and leadership development. Jacobsen and Thielen share a commitment to mentorship, community service, and the continued strength of independent funeral homes.

“Brenden and Adam each embody the values of service, integrity and leadership that define OGR and the Foundation,” said Chris Miller, President of the OGR Foundation Board. “Their passion for education and their dedication to supporting future professionals will strengthen our mission and expand the impact of our scholarship programs.”

Brenden Jacobsen began his career in funeral service in 2001 and holds formal qualifications in Funeral Directing, Embalming and Business Management. He is an advocate for community-based, locally owned funeral homes and is actively involved in professional organizations across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. In 2024, he was appointed Vice Chair of the British Institute of Embalmers (Australasian Division). Jacobsen brings expertise in mentorship, pastoral care and professional networking and is passionate about guiding and supporting the next generation within the profession.

Adam Thielen began his career in funeral service at age 14, working alongside his grandfather at their family funeral home. Today, he is actively involved with numerous professional and community organizations, including the Iowa Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, OGR and The 660 Club. He also serves his parish as a head usher and Eucharistic Minister and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Thielen is committed to supporting the education and development of future funeral service professionals and looks forward to contributing his experience and insight to the Foundation’s scholarship efforts.

“The OGR Foundation plays a vital role in ensuring the future of independent funeral service,” Miller added. “We are proud to welcome Brenden and Adam to the board and look forward to the leadership and perspective they will bring.”
