Memoriams.com has been selected by the newspaper industry’s Local Media Consortium to provide funeral directors a standardized tool for placing obituaries into any US newspaper.

November 4, 2014

Denver – The Local Media Consortium (LMC), a nationwide alliance of leading local media outlets, announced an agreement with Memoriams.com to provide funeral directors with a single website to price and place obituaries into newspapers nationwide. Over 2700 US newspapers are configured in the Memoriams.com network. Obituaries and death notices can be placed in any of these newspapers and online sites as well.

Funeral directors have historically had challenges placing obituaries into their local newspaper and into other newspaper markets around the country.  The manual process can take hours or days and included a time-consuming back and forth process between the funeral director, the newspaper and the bereaved.  The negotiation of rates, schedules, deadlines and copy can be a daunting task.  Memoriams.com offers funeral directors a one-stop-shop for virtually all US newspapers.  In service of the bereaved, the funeral director can price, schedule and place obituaries and death notices all in a single order. This saves valuable time for both the funeral director and families, and solves problems like inaccurate price quotes and missed deadlines.

“What used to take funeral directors hours, now takes minutes,” said Michael Heene, CEO of Memoriams.com. “Thousands of funeral directors are saving countless hours, allowing them more time to work on what’s really important, helping the bereaved. Funeral directors can rest assured that they are working with the newspaper industry’s largest consortium.  We are proud to be representing the LMC to the death care industry.”

The LMC is a group housing more than 1,000 daily newspapers including McClatchy, Hearst and E.W. Scripps.  There is no cost to the funeral director to use Memoriams.com and they can sign up either on the site or via their LMC newspaper.

“We deeply value our funeral director advertising partners and recognize the value of the obituary content they bring to the community,” said Christian A. Hendricks, Chair of the Local Media Consortium’s Executive Committee and Vice President, Interactive Media for The McClatchy Company, “Our goal is to support our advertisers by bringing them tools that simplify their lives, while making our member newspapers more accessible. Memoriams.com supports both of these.”
