IFDF designated as the exclusive distributor of DNA Memorial services

Independent Funeral Directors of Florida and DNA Memorial, a DNA services brand of CG Labs, Inc., have entered into an agreement designating IFDF as the exclusive distributor of the DNA Memorial services and products to Florida’s independently owned funeral homes.

DNA Memorial is a DNA services company which has developed a proprietary method (Patent Pending) of extracting DNA from a non-invasive mouth swab or hair sample and binding the DNA to a substrate.  The process allows the DNA to be stored at room temperature indefinitely.  This breakthrough technology provides consumers the ability to “bank” their own (or deceased loved one’s) genetic record (DNA).

“We are pleased that independent Florida funeral homes will be able to offer our DNA Memorial services and products to funeral consumers across the State of Florida.  Cremation is an irreversible process and all DNA is lost (destroyed) as a result of cremation.  Additionally, once a person is buried disinterment is costly both emotionally and financially.  Funeral directors offer families literally the last chance to preserve their deceased loved one’s genetic record.  Once the funeral is complete whether cremation or burial, the DNA is either gone forever or inaccessible” says Jeff Harbeson, CEO of CG Labs, Inc. the parent company of DNA Memorial.

The addition of this benchmark service provides an opportunity to enhance the image of the independent funeral home by reflecting the fact that funeral service is more than just the disposition of the body.

IFDF Executive Director Mark O’Connell says “IFDF continues to evaluate new and unique products and services which may benefit our independent funeral home owners.  As funeral consumers are making arrangements they should be educated and informed as to the significance of preserving personal DNA of loved ones.”

If you are interested in finding out more about this service, contact Ken at IFDF (850-222-0198) or visit www.dnamemorial.com.
