‘Death: It’s a Living’ was received very well by most in the funeral profession. Finally a program focused on the funeral profession that doesn’t make us all want to crawl into a hole.

Though there was a lot of focus on price I do feel the profession was shown in a good light and best of all the consumer was given very good information to help them make an informed decision.

I wish that CNBC would have looked into the payment options available for families when faced with paying upfront for funeral goods and services. Traditionally there has never been payment options available, its was check, cash or credit card, but now with companies like Funeral Finance, LLC, funeral homes can offer client families easy to understand financing options.

Here are some of the comments made by funeral professionals during the ConnectingDirectors.com live chat and on Twitter using #deathitsaliving:

Another missed opportunity, no commercial from the industry itself about the value of holdings a funeral #deathitsaliving

— Anthony Kaniuk(@arkaniuk) February 1, 2013

Many funeral homes that *seem* to be family-run are actually run by major corporations (14% of all funeral homes). #deathitsaliving

— eFuneral (@eFuneral) February 1, 2013

On cemetaries: “This is real estate, and real estate is location, location, location.” #deathitsaliving

— funeralOne (@funeralOne) February 1, 2013

Many cemeteries market to the public by changing their style from eerie to entertaining, hosting concerts + other events. #deathitsaliving

— eFuneral (@eFuneral) February 1, 2013

“[death is] also an opportunity for abusiness to grow, an innovation to be launched, and money to be made… #deathitsaliving.”

— funeralOne (@funeralOne) February 1, 2013

@cdfuneralnews Agreed! I hope it inspires funeral homes everywhere to embrace change as an opportunity #deathitsaliving

From the ConnectingDirectors.com Live Chat (can still be viewed here: http://www.connectingdirectors.com/live)

Ryan Thogmartin – Cremation Society says, “Cemetery industry is a ripoff” #deathitsaliving

Gail Rubin – That segment was beneficial for actually showing the steps in the cremation process.
