With an estimated 60% of independent owners transferring ownership in the next decade, two veteran deathcare advisors unite to make things easier

RALEIGH, NC – Alan Creedy and Bill McQueen have announced they have aligned to form Succession Planning Associates.  This joint venture leverages their distinctive professional skills and exhaustive deathcare knowledge to discover, develop and deliver an actionable plan to transfer successfully a firm’s business to family members, key employees or third parties.

Presently, succession planning has become less about “getting out” than it is about having a plan, one that optimizes income for retirement without crippling the firm’s ability to remain viable.  With more than 60 years combined experience, Creedy and McQueen offer a unique resource in exploring and evaluating the many options, strategies as well as tax and family issues involved in succession planning.

Creedy has enjoyed a successful career building, restoring and developing companies.   He is widely acknowledged as one of the profession’s leading experts on strategy and trends.  McQueen, a licensed funeral director, led Anderson-McQueen to its current status as one of funeral service’s most admired firms.  He recently transitioned out of the family funeral home into a full-time career as estate attorney and legal advisor.   Both men also hold certified public accounting (CPA) licenses.

The pair has launched a website to promote their endeavor, www.successionpa.com.  The site features articles, information and other educational resources including a free Sellability Score tool.  The Sellability Score is an interactive feature that provides a comprehensive assessment of the “sellability” of a firm; whether the owner wants to sell next year or just know how to build a valuable asset for the future.

“Bill and I have a complementary skill set for advising firms on succession planning in the funeral space,” stated Creedy.  “Bill possesses the technical knowledge base to examine things from a legal and estate planning perspective while I bring experience with interpersonal skills to analyze and evaluate both the people and strategic dynamics.”

“We can provide our clients with an objective, professional and unvarnished perspective on succession planning,” commented McQueen.  “Plus, Alan and I are uniquely qualified from an industry-specific standpoint.  Not to mention, I have experienced successful funeral home transitions from both sides of the table.”
