We are excited to collaborate with Cold Hands and Monica Torres, renowned licensed funeral director, embalmer, cremationist, cosmetic reconstructive specialist, desairologist, and owner/founder of NXT Generation Mortuary Support! Every week Connecting Directors will now share “Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week,” which Monica posts each Sunday afternoon to her Instagram channel @coldhandshosts.

Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week: To treat a hernia in the scrotum use the Trocar to pull the intestine back into the abdominal cavity

Herniated scrotums can be seen in infants children and adults and the size can range from the size of a grapefruit to a large melon. Hernia in the scrotum often leads to “Hydrocele.” However it is a rare condition it can cause serious issue when dressing. Here is a tip that can be used to treat this disfiguration after death.

After arterial embalming direct the Trocar into the scrotum to pierce the loops of the intestine as much as possible and aspirate as much of the content out that you can. Allow 24 hours before injecting a high index “drying” cavity fluid directly into the scrotum.

Pro Tip

Avoid puncturing the scrotum. Proper treatment will shrink the scrotum without the need for other treatment.

Hope you like this week’s tip! Until next week, Happy Embalming!
