Springfield, Ohio — April 10, 2026 — The Champion Company, a leading innovator in advanced embalming solutions, today announced the appointment of Kari Ickes as its official spokesperson, reinforcing its commitment to industry leadership, education, and clear, credible communication.

In this role, Ickes will represent Champion across industry events, media, and strategic initiatives—serving as a consistent, authoritative voice aligned with the company’s core values of Safety, Innovation, and Integrity.

“Kari brings the experience, perspective, and authenticity that define Champion,” said Dimitri Gianakopoulos, President and CEO of The Champion Company. “She strengthens our ability to connect with the profession and communicate our mission with clarity and purpose.”

A licensed funeral director and embalmer with more than 30 years in funeral service, Ickes holds degrees in psychology and mortuary science and serves communities across Southwest Michigan as a freelance director. Her experience spans operations, education, and consulting, offering a comprehensive view of the evolving needs of funeral professionals.

Through her widely recognized platform, Kari the Mortician, Ickes has built a strong following by delivering practical, accessible education for both professionals and the public—advancing transparency, supporting students, and modernizing conversations around funeral service.

“I’m honored to represent The Champion Company,” said Ickes. “Champion’s commitment to innovation and integrity reflects the future of our profession, and I’m proud to help carry that forward.”

This appointment marks a strategic step in Champion’s 2026 growth plan, including expanded partnerships, strengthened market presence, and elevated engagement across both digital and in-person platforms.
