Patricia Hartley Joins The Independent Funeral Group as Head Content Creator
MARYVILLE, TN — The Independent Funeral Group has expanded its administrative team by appointing Patricia Hartley as Head Content Creator. Hartley brings over seven years of deathcare industry experience to the network of independently owned and operated funeral homes, having previously served as Managing Editor for Connecting Directors.
Hartley’s connection to the profession began early in her career.
“I worked in the front office of a funeral home during college, and in the process developed a profound respect for the people of this profession that has only grown stronger over the last seven years,” she said, adding that her enthusiasm for her new role is enhanced by the organization’s mission. “I’m thrilled to join The Independent Funeral Group team to continue providing practitioners with the information they need to thrive in the communities they serve. I believe it is an honor and a privilege to support them and their families in any way I can, especially as a member of such an incredibly kind and hardworking team.”
Hartley joins a leadership team composed of experienced funeral professionals, including Executive Director Dr. Brad Kuchnicki, Associate Executive Director Christi Moon Robbins, and Admin & Digital/Media Manager Alex Lewis, all of whom advocate for family-owned firms.
“We’ve long admired Patricia’s ability to tell the stories of funeral service with thoughtfulness, respect, and a genuine appreciation for the people behind the profession,” Kuchnicki said. “Through her work over the years, she’s informed, educated, and given a voice to the deathcare community, and we’re incredibly proud to support her as she continues that work with The Independent Funeral Group.”
The hiring follows a period of rapid expansion. After extending nationwide membership across all 50 states in 2025 and introducing negotiated group health benefits earlier this year, The Independent Funeral Group anticipates continued growth heading into 2027. Hartley’s role will enhance the organization’s ability to offer direct, one-on-one firm support, continuing education, and peer networking.
Hartley holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English from the University of North Alabama, as well as a master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication (Public Relations concentration) from Kent State University. Beyond her editorial work in deathcare, her background includes bank communications and university-level English instruction.
