Precoa preplans its 1,000,000th family
PORTLAND, Ore. – Precoa is celebrating prearranging its one millionth family together with leading funeral homes across the nation. For over two decades, the national leader in preneed marketing and sales has continuously set the standard for both quality and effectiveness.
Founded in 2004 by Mark Hornibrook and Bret Davis, Precoa began out of the recognition that while families loved the idea of preplanning, they needed proactive outreach and sensitive guidance to follow through with it. That revolutionary vision has been carried forward as the company’s pace of innovation and performance has steadily accelerated.
In 2025 alone, the company set more than 243,000 appointments and preplanned more than 100,000 individuals on behalf of its partners. This was the result of more than 7,100 community education programs, an astounding 5.2 million follow-ups, and analytics drawn from a decades-deep data lake.
“When people come together with a shared vision and purpose, you can accomplish more than you ever thought possible,” said Precoa CEO Michael Hornibrook. “This milestone is all due to our incredible funeral home partners and the many people throughout Precoa who are so dedicated to helping them connect with more families in their communities to create an intentional plan.”
Each of the one million prearrangements began with a person who raised their hand to learn more about preplanning. Through next-level analytics, Precoa helps funeral homes identify the families in their markets most likely preplan. This analysis becomes the basis for performance marketing fine-tuned through optimization and testing, which is followed-up by consistent and caring nurturing through Precoa’s Funeral Planning Center.
The pivotal moment in every preneed journey, however, is the appointment itself. Precoa has spent years developing and refining this experience for families, and the company’s field team comprises top performers who train, coach, and support Advance Funeral Planners to connect with families and educate them on the value of funeral service and the importance of ceremony, ritual, and gathering.
With every piece of Precoa’s Pro system designed to work in sync, the result is a sustained increase in preneed volume for funeral homes, the highest level of support for Advance Funeral Planners, and the highest quality experiences for families. Now the largest preneed marketing organization in the country as measured by sales, Precoa continues to build new relationships and innovations. Precoa last year debuted Sales Studio, a platform designed so Advance Funeral Planners can create consistently meaningful experiences. It also introduced a full
integration with Everplans, a digital life-planning hub that allows families to update and add to their prearrangements. There are even more innovations on the horizon as well.
“I’m grateful for how far we’ve come, and I’m even more excited by the millions more families still out there, learning about preplanning and getting closer to that decision every day,” Hornibrook said. “Our focus is to continue connecting our partners with even more of these families so they have the opportunity to experience a meaningful service for the people they love.”
