Rollings Funeral Service Develops Comprehensive Veterans Training Certification Course
PEACHTREE CITY, GA – Rollings Funeral Service has developed a comprehensive veterans training program designed to equip funeral service professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to better serve veterans and their families as demand for veteran funeral care continues to grow in the years ahead.
The Boot Camp: Veteran Training for Funeral Service Professionals was created in response to the increasing number of veterans who will require funeral and memorial services, and the need for funeral professionals to have a deeper understanding of veteran-specific considerations. The course is comprised of 35 comprehensive modules covering a wide range of topics, including veteran benefits, military culture and mindset, burial honors, and other essential elements involved in assisting veteran families with both preplanning and at-need services.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants earn the designation of Certified Veteran Funeral Professional. The program is available to all staff members across Rollings Funeral Service locations.
The course was developed with the assistance of Certified Safety Training, in collaboration with Mark Harrison and Paige Chartier, and is housed on the CST App to ensure accessibility and consistency of training delivery.
Course creator Nancy Weil, Director of Community Outreach for Rollings Funeral Service, emphasized the importance of specialized education in this area. “Having worked with veterans throughout my career, I saw a need for additional professional training so that the needs of veterans and their families could be met at an enhanced level,” Weil said. “Understanding the mindset of those who have served, as well as the ability to navigate VA benefits, is essential.”
Amanda King, a Wisconsin funeral director and recent graduate of the course, shared how the training has already made a meaningful impact. “This course gave me a much deeper understanding of military service and the unique needs of veteran families,” King said. “It allows us to guide families with greater confidence, clarity, and compassion during an incredibly difficult time, while ensuring their loved one’s service is honored properly.”
Chris Hamiel, Vice President of Operations for Rollings Funeral Service, highlighted the organization’s commitment to veteran care. “Serving veterans with dignity and respect is a responsibility we take seriously,” Hamiel said. “This training ensures our teams are prepared to support veteran families with knowledgeable guidance, consistency, and compassion across all our locations.”
While The Boot Camp: Veteran Training for Funeral Service Professionals is currently available exclusively to Rollings Funeral Service employees, Weil is available to present “Honoring Service, Building Trust: Becoming the Preferred Funeral Home for Veterans” at national and state funeral service conferences for association members.
