Singer Halsey Cancels “Funeral” in Favor of a 2025 Tour

Singer Halsey (real name Ashley Frangipane) hasn’t been shy about sharing her serious health struggles with her fans. While not always specifying each of her various ailments, over the past years the 30-year-old artist from New Jersey has posted images of herself crying, curled up in a hospital bed, and receiving transfusions and other treatments and included captions about being “lucky to be alive.”

Many of the songs on her latest album, “The Great Impersonator,” were inspired by or even include references to her years-long battles with chronic illnesses.

“Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain,” she sings on “The End.” “When I met you, I said I would never die / But the joke was always mine ’cause I’m racing against time.”

Halsey’s posts and lyrics certainly painted a dark picture of the singer’s despair, with hints that her thoughts had turned to her impending death. Last week, though, Halsey signaled she had turned a corner with an upbeat Instagram reel announcing the cancellation of her funeral and the launch of a 2025 tour.

In the short video, the singer arrives at her “funeral” in a blue wig, eyes a couple of black suits, and designates a who can — or, more accurately, who can not — attend the service (sorry, Joe Jonas). She even describes her casket and the surrounding flowers as “perfect” and “exactly how I pictured it.”

Suddenly, though, Halsey answers a call from someone who, we assume, tells her that the funeral is canceled and instead, she’s going on tour.

“Hello? I’m kind of busy. What do you mean it’s not happening? What am I gonna do with all this stuff?” Halsey yells into the phone just as a promo for her upcoming For My Last Trick tour takes over.

“My funeral was canceled, so I’m taking the show on the road instead. For My Last Trick: The Tour. Sign up for presale access now at https://livemu.sc/halsey,” reads the Instagram reel.
