Selected Independent Funeral Homes to Create Magical Connections at 106th Annual Meeting in Florida

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. June 10, 2024The world’s leading independent funeral service professionals will gather in Lake Buena Vista, FL for Selected Independent Funeral Homes’ 106th Annual Meeting at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on September 25-28. True to this year’s theme of “The Magic of Connection,” participants will have ample opportunities to network with colleagues, experience engaging educational sessions and obtain valuable continuing education credit. During the meeting, the Association will induct its newest Board Representatives and Officers, while recognizing the contributions of its outgoing Officers.

The People IQ Expert, Dr. Sherene McHenry, will present a keynote titled “Maximize Your Leadership: Navigating the Five Types of People.” The former graduate professor turned full time speaker and author empowers and equips audiences to increase leadership effectiveness, engagement, and well-being. With a PhD in Counselor Education and decades of firsthand experience and research, Sherene shares her insights into increasing engagement, creating psychologically safe workplaces and ensuring that high performers aren’t burned out.

Desmond Lomax, a clinical mental health therapist who worked in the field of law enforcement and corrections for over 20 years, will present “The Trust Imperative: Bridging Divides for a Culture of Belonging and Organizational Effectiveness.” This will not be a call for another initiative that ticks boxes for compliance; it is one for a profound engagement in creating a culture where every member, regardless of position or status, is valued, understood, and engaged.

Many other dynamic speakers will share valuable insights at the Annual Meeting. View details of all speakers and sessions online. Additional highlights will include the following:
