Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week
We are excited to collaborate with Cold Hands and Monica Torres, renowned licensed funeral director, embalmer, cremationist, cosmetic reconstructive specialist, desairologist, and owner/founder of NXT Generation Mortuary Support! Every week Connecting Directors will now share “Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week,” which Monica posts each Sunday afternoon to her Instagram channel @coldhandshosts.
Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week: Lower exposure by adding accessory chemicals to your embalming tank first
I always try to limit or control my exposure however and whenever I can. One of the simplest ways I manage this is by controlling the addition of chemicals to my tank. A waft of arterial fluid can bring a tear to my eye with a quickness so I use this simple routine every time I embalm to avoid fuming.
Pro Tip:
Addition sequence
1. Water if using a diluted solution
2. Water corrective
3. Co-Injection
4. Arterial fluid
5. Dye, if needed
I also keep my face covered with a face shield, goggles or respirator and always replace the lid.
Simple tip this week! Hope you enjoyed it. Until next week! Happy embalming!
