Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week

We are excited to collaborate with Cold Hands and Monica Torres, renowned licensed funeral director, embalmer, cremationist, cosmetic reconstructive specialist, desairologist, and owner/founder ofNXT Generation Mortuary Support! Every week Connecting Directors will now share “Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week,” which Monica posts each Sunday afternoon to her Instagram channel @coldhandshosts.

Cold Hands Embalming Tip of the Week: Apply falsies under the eyelid for a natural appearance

Applying false lashes to the dead is not as easy as one would think. Even on the living it takes a steady and trained hand to get lashes just right. We are accustomed to seeing people with their eyes open in life so the seam and upper eye lid is rarely seen for longer than a wink.

I use the art of illusion to create a natural appearance for the final viewing. Create an illusion by applying lashes directly underneath the eyelid for a much more natural effect.

Pro Tip

Use an anyerism hook to gently lift the eyelid and insert the lash band. Ever so gently lay the lid over the lashes. I NEVER use tweezers to lift the eyelid or use adhesive.
