Karen King Retires, Joan Schoborg Assumes New Role as Regional Director

West Des Moines, Iowa — Homesteaders Life Company Vice President of Field Sales Dan Lodermeier announced today that Joan Schoborg has been named Regional Director. Schoborg fills a role previously held by Karen King, who is retiring after 46 years with the company.

“Joan has consistently demonstrated the hard work, commitment and expertise that truly sets our account executive program apart from other providers,” Lodermeier observed. “Her background in customer service, coupled with her management experience, made her an ideal candidate to assume this role.”

As Regional Director, Schoborg will lead a team of account executives serving customers out of Homesteaders’ home office in West Des Moines. In her new role, she will help maintain the exceptional level of customer service funeral homes have come to expect from their Homesteaders representatives.

“I am passionate about end-of-life planning, having served funeral homes for more than 10 years as a trusted advisor and resource for information on advance funeral planning,” Schoborg affirmed. “I look forward to contributing to the company’s success as a Regional Director.”

Schoborg joined Homesteaders 16 years ago as a member of the customer service team. In 2009, she helped expand the company’s industry-leading account executive program by becoming its first Home Office account executive. For the last nine years, she has called on funeral home customers and prospects throughout the country, developing and deploying customized plans to help grow their pre-need programs.

Homesteaders Life Company, a mutual company owned by its policy holders, is a national leader providing products and services to promote and support the funding of advance funeral planning and end-of-life expenses.
