Funeral Iconoclast and Social Media Maven Launch Provocative Broadcast

Jeff Harbeson and Ryan Thogmartin have teamed up to create Funeral Nation (FN), a weekly web show.  The show’s platform will be built around providing news, observations and perspectives on the funeral industry in an entertaining and non-traditional manner.  The first show is currently in production and will be distributed weekly on Tuesdays beginning October 6 through various social media platforms including, Facebook and Twitter.

“I’ve been called an iconoclast which is a big word we don’t use much here in the South,” states Harbeson.  “However, I consider myself a realist and this show provides an exceptional stage to distribute relevant news, observations and commentary for funeral professionals, beyond what is reported in Ryan’s Connecting Directors website.  It will be a refreshing departure from current forms of communicating with each other in the funeral service.  Using a Social Media platform, this FN show will be thought challenging, sometimes provocative and definitely not boring.”

The format of each show will revolve around interviewing guests, commentary on funeral news and feature spotlights on professionals in funeral service that are making a difference.  Additionally, the duo will present a WTF segment that takes an irreverent and entertaining look at people, events and happenings in the funeral profession and certain to be talked about on the three days (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) after the show.

“Our intent is to inject a shot of adrenaline into what is being reported on in funeral service”, said Ryan Thogmartin.  “Collaborating with Jeff, we plan to create the best FN show possible and hope to be a voice in funeral service to counteract the negative press reported on the mainstream media.  And we plan to do this using the latest video technology available.”

Each show will challenge viewers and listeners with news and content that’s available nowhere else.  Additionally, the show will seek topics and features from its followers that will help shape the direction of future shows.
