ASD’s MobileFH™ Recognized As a Finalist for 2015 NFDA Innovation Award

This prestigious award is given annually to a funeral service vendor whose product or service was introduced during the previous year and represents creativity, innovation and excellence.

In 2012, ASD received the Innovation Award for the company’s revolutionary smartphone app, ASD Mobile. ASD is honored to be recognized again for this national award. A distinguished panel of judges selected MobileFH™ as one of the five finalists. The winner will be announced at the Opening General Session of the 2015 NFDA International Convention & Expo in October after the funeral service community has an opportunity to cast their votes online.

MobileFH™ was developed by ASD’s technology team after hearing directors describe a common problem they experienced when using their cell phones for funeral home business. Caller ID, as helpful as it is, can also cause a lot of headaches. From the risk of a missed call to the frustration of being contacted while off duty, these problems can make it difficult for funeral professionals to separate their personal and professional lives. MobileFH™ provides a new solution to this problem by allowing funeral professionals to call any number from their cell phone and display their funeral home’s number as the outgoing Caller ID.

“MobileFH™ was created specifically to enhance communication between directors and families,” says ASD Vice President, Kevin Czachor. “Previously, on-call funeral directors had few choices when it came to returning calls. Fortunately, MobileFH™ provides much needed freedom while allowing them to still use their personal cell phones. By recording these calls, directors will also have a detailed backup of their conversations with families.”

MobileFH™ was first introduced at the 2014 NFDA Convention and in less than one year it has been used by funeral directors more than 50,000 times. ASD designed this technology to be as user friendly as possible. It can be activated with a simple touch of a button within the ASD Mobile app. Clients who have activated the new feature have described multiple benefits to using MobileFH™. Directors are less likely to receive business calls while off duty and in a distracting environment. In addition to keeping cell phone numbers private, MobileFH™ also ensures that families will always recognize when someone from the funeral home is contacting them.

“Before this capability, I always knew that returning calls to customers with my cell meant I increased the likelihood of receiving business calls on my cell phone when I was off-duty or on vacation or in church. Patching the funeral home’s main line into my return Caller ID means the family will continue to deal with the funeral home contact information rather than my personal contact information,” said Scott Macy, a director at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, IL.
