CCMS Welcomes New President, Eugene Kramer
President Eugene (Gene) Kramer joined CCMS April 2013. He was first introduced to the College’s Foundation at the May 2013 Annual Meeting. In the past decade, he had served as Assistant Dean of Administrative Services with the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Kramer’s responsibilities included overseeing financial, business, and facilities operations of the Blue Ash College. He was also an adjunct professor in UCBA’s Math, Physics, and Computer Science Department.
When asked about his position of leadership at CCMS, President Kramer stated, “I am honored and pleased to serve as the President of an institution with such an amazing and unique history.” CCMS Business Manager, Leslie Boehm, notes the positive impact already present through Mr. Kramer’s initiatives, leadership approach, and overall commitment to the success of the institution, its employees, and student body.
CCMS AWARDED FUNERAL SERVICE FOUNDATION (FSF) GRANT FOR STUDENT COMPUTER LAB
CCMS Library/IT submitted a Grant proposal to FSF, which was subsequently awarded for the replacement of 10 computers in the CCMS library lab. CCMS is appreciative for the generous resource which resulted in replacement of all library lab computers with modern touch-screen technology and streamlined software that is parallel to the experience students will have in their profession. CCMS continues to maintain the highest standards in mortuary science education through modern technology, strong curriculum, co-op experience, and on site state of the art clinical laboratory facilities.
CCMS ACCREDITED BY ABFSE AND HLC
The ABFSE is scheduled to return 2015. HLC will conduct its next regularly scheduled review in 2016-2017.
CCMS WELCOMED INTO PRESTIGIOUS PHI THETA KAPPA HONOR SOCIETY
August, 2012 – CCMS was welcomed into the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society, Phi Theta Kappa. Our chapter is Beta Upsilon Mu. PTK Faculty Advisor, Wanda Lee, reports that she and President Kramer are working with the Honor Students to promote PTK’s philosophy of achieving academic excellence while creating opportunities for leadership and learning as leaders through service and advocacy. With that in mind, our Honor Students are currently working together to organize several fund raising events also aimed at building relationships within the funeral community. They are also developing a service project that embraces the CCMS objective of valuing and servicing a diverse community.
GRADUATION
March, 2013 – 36 students graduated with an AAS degree. June, 2013 – 25 students are expected to earn a BMS. Commencement will be held this September 14th, where 41 graduates will receive the AAS.
CCMS STUDENT ENROLLMENT IS STRONG
President Kramer and CCMS Admissions Director, Dr. Kabengele, are pleased to report increasing student enrollment for the FALL 2013 class. New Student Orientation is scheduled for Sept. 26-27 with classes starting Sept. 30, 2013.
OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULE
In May, CCMS hosted an Open House for twenty-eight prospective students and their families. The next open house is scheduled for August 3rd.
