What Do You Say To Families In Times Of Tragedy?
Thinking of and praying for the families of the victims in Connecticut this morning. Tragedies like these never make sense, join us in lifting them up. – From the O’Connor Mortuary Facebook Page
When tragedies like this happen, and sadly they are becoming more frequent, how to do meet with the affected families? How do you console a mother or father who’s child has been innocently gunned down?
How do parents explain to the children who survive what happened to their best friend or teacher?
In times of tragedy the funeral home and funeral director become the center focus and gathering place of the community. How do you, the funeral director, stay the pillar, the soundboard for emotional grief-stricken community members?
What do you say? How do you perform your job while still being someone who is grieving from the tragedy as well?
This tragedy is going to affect many of our colleagues in the funeral profession, if you have been through a tragedy, where as the funeral director you were looked upon for guidance, what advice or instruction can you offer our colleagues who are going to be at the center of their community during this tragedy?
