Love or Death: Funeral Diva Pitching New Reality Show
Funeral Diva Muneerah Warner is using the internet and crowd funding site KickStarter.com to raise $40,000 in funding for a new reality show centered around Funeral Divas (female funeral directors) and their search for love while staying dedicated to death.
For those of you who are wondering what Kickstarter.com is:
Kickstarter is the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. Every week, tens of thousands of amazing people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, food, publishing and other creative fields.
A new form of commerce and patronage. This is not about investment or lending. Project creators keep 100% ownership and control over their work. Instead, they offer products and experiences that are unique to each project.
All or nothing funding. On Kickstarter, a project must reach its funding goal before time runs out or no money changes hands. Why? It protects everyone involved. Creators aren’t expected to develop their project without necessary funds, and it allows anyone to test concepts without risk.
Here is what Muneerah is pitching on KickStarter.com:
Love or Death
Follow these Funeral Divas as they search for love!
“Love or Death” is†a reality show featuring several funeral industry women searching for love but dedicated to death. Follow their romantic, professional and spiritual journey as they struggle to gain the same respect as men in the funeral industry while looking for love in a world where men find their jobs disgusting.
Follow†them to work and see what†they do. Watch them†as they†balance work and their romantic lives and stay embalming fluid free all at the same time.
This all female cast includes mortuary students, funeral interns, embalmers, funeral directors and funeral home owners. They are fun, sexy, beautiful and they put the fun back in funeral.
The dating process can be nerve racking but dating a Funeral Diva can be full of surprises when death comes knocking at her door.
I am excited to see Muneerah using Kickstarter, it is one of the largest and most popular crowd funding sites. I am very interested in seeing it she receives enough funding in the 2 month time period.
There was a lot of buzz last year when California funeral director Shawntel Newton made the hometown date portion of ABC’s Bachelorette, but I think the buzz was more over how creeped out people were by Shawntel taking her date to the funeral home and giving a tour of the embalming room which included her date laying on the embalming table.
I do however think that the show could shine a positive light on the funeral profession. I am always in full support of projects that show funeral directors as “really” people and debunk the perception of funeral directors built by our society.
I wish Muneerah the best of luck and I am happy to say that ConnectingDirectors.com was the first “backer” of the project on KickStarter.com with a $25 pledge.
Please let us know what you think of a reality show like this. Is it good for the profession? Do you think the show would be well received by the public? Please share below, and if you do “back” the project tell us!
