Boost Your Leadership Skills, Knowledge at NFDA Leadership Conference
Brookfield, Wis. — Registration is now open for NFDA’s 2011 Leadership Conference, which will take place July 10-13 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This annual conference is the only event of its kind to offer current and aspiring funeral service leaders the opportunity to explore issues and share experiences with colleagues and friends from around the country.
This year’s NFDA Leadership Conference is packed with speakers and opportunities for discussion that will help attendees walk away with the tools and resources necessary to help them be innovative and effective funeral service leaders.
* National/State Emerging Issues in Funeral Service. Facilitated by NFDA President Patrick Lynch. In this rapidly evolving profession, in order to help funeral directors effectively serve families, national and state associations must stay a step ahead of the profession and the market by identifying emerging issues. Together, national and state leaders will examine one of latest developments in the profession, alkaline hydrolysis.
Breakout by Office. State presidents, vice presidents, secretaries/treasurers, past presidents and state executives will discuss topics related to their specific role while sharing ideas that are important to an association’s success.
ABFSE and ICFSEB: What You Need to Know. Presented by Dr. Gretchen Warner, American Board of Funeral Service Education, and Dalene Paull, International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards. Attendees will learn about the roles and responsibilities of the American Board of Funeral Service Education and the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards, two organizations that contribute significantly to the future of the profession.
Education and Licensing: Coast to Coast. Presented by Scott Gilligan, Gilligan Law Offices, NFDA Legal Counsel. Using NFDA’s comprehensive state-by-state comparison of licensing laws and regulations, state leaders will look to see if there are areas for seeking greater uniformity and standardization in the licensing of funeral professionals.
The Six Manuals for Effective Association Management. Presented by Bob Harris, The Nonprofit Center.
Learn about review systems, best practices and the six manuals that can help improve administration and governance in your association: leadership, personnel, style guide, procedures, emergency and policy manuals.
Avoiding Risks in Managing a Nonprofit Organization. Presented by Bob Harris, The Nonprofit Center. Learn how to protect against the most common risks associations face, including local, state and federal regulations, antitrust matters, endorsements, protecting original works, and the $10 million fine.
In addition to these valuable educational programs, you can network with colleagues while enjoying the optional tours and excursions NFDA has arranged in scenic Coeur d’Alene. From golf to kayaking and horseback riding, there is something for everyone. Registration fees for the 2011 NFDA Leadership Conference are:
- NFDA members: $385 for NFDA members on or before June 13; $435 after June 13.
- Nonmembers: $480 on or before June 13; $530 after June 13.
- Spouse or guest (no CE): $130 on or before June 13; $180 after June 13.
This conference provides licensed funeral professionals with up to 10 CE hours and is approved by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP) and most state boards. CE hours may vary by state.
